Hotels booked for my upcoming Europe trip

I travel a lot, but most of it is domestic travel. I tend to take one big international trip every couple of years. Hence why I seem so giddy and excited for this trip. This is one of the years of a big trip and I’ve previously written about the award flights I booked to Europe as well as the cruise itinerary and ports of call for my upcoming Western Mediterranean cruise.

Just a quick recap on the trip. We’ll be staying a couple days in Munich, Germany, a night in Monte Carlo, Monaco before the cruise, and then a couple days in Barcelona, Spain after the cruise before we had back the the U-S-of-A.

Here’s where we’re staying:

Le Méridien Munich

Le Méridien Munich is a SPG Category 5 hotel, which requires between 12,000 and 16,000 Starpoints per night. We booked using 16,000 Starpoints as the rooms for when we will be there are going for 279 EUR / 354 USD per night.

Le Méridien Beach Plaza Monte Carlo is a SPG Category 6 hotel, which requires between 20,000 and 25,000 Starpoints per night. Rooms were being quoted as requiring 25,000 Starpoints per night for the time we are going to be there and for a base room. We were able to book a ‘deluxe room’ which includes a slightly larger room and confirmed sea view by paying cash for the room at 232 EUR / 294 USD per night.

W Barcelona is a SPG Category 6 hotel, which requires between 20,000 and 25,000 Starpoints per night. Rooms were being quoted as requiring 25,000 Starpoints per night for the time we are going to be there. We were able to book a ‘cozy room’ by paying cash for the room at 197 EUR / 250 USD per night.

We are big Starwood people and being a Platinum member of SPG, we hope to receive room upgrades, free wifi, free breakfast and other perks, making the value paid even higher!

I plan on writing reviews of each of these hotels sometime after the trip, so stay tuned!

What do you think of our hotel choices? Have you stayed in these hotels? What would you have done differently?
