I’m a big fan of rewards programs and elite status. When you travel, you appreciate the special perks that you are offered. They just seem to make the trip a little more comfortable.
This morning I received an email with the subject line:
Congratulations, you’ll enjoy Gold for another year
Well that’s just great! But for what? I’m Platinum on American Airlines (soon to be Executive Platinum). I’m Platinum with IHG Rewards Club (IHG Hotels). I’m Gold with Hilton HHonors. So what could it be? Here’s a hint:
That’s right. I hit elite status (again) with Starbucks! I love the My Starbucks Rewards program. In case you’re not familiar, with My Starbucks Rewards, you earn a Star with each purchase. After 12 Stars, you get a free drink of your choice or food item of your choice. Every year on your birthday, you get a free drink or food item.
Not bad for something you do anyways, right? All you have to do is put money on Starbucks gift card and pay for your purchase with their handy iPhone app or the gift card.
Want an trick for earning more stars? Are you buying coffee for a friend? Ask for two separate transactions. You’ll earn two stars, one for each purchase. Are you buying a drink and a food item? Ask for two separate transactions. You get the idea.
